Job, chapter 3

God is with you. Through it all, God is next to us, there is no sorrow or problem that we can not endure with His power. Acknowledge Him and accept His salvation.

Our verse of reference in Job 3 is:

 “I have no peace, no quietness;
    I have no rest, but only turmoil.” (Job 3:26 NIV).

Reflection

When adversity hit our lives
Historical Context. – Job was subjected to four types of tests: a) loss of all material goods, He was one of the most powerful and richest people of the east, in minutes he received the news of stolen oxen, donkeys, camels, and a thunderstorm consumed his sheep. b) Death of his seven sons and three daughters, certainly this test was very painful, because he was deprived of the fruit of his marriage. c ) He suffer a disease that disfigured his face to the point that friends could not recognized him. d) Problems between the couple as a result of the misfortunes subjected by the family. Are you suffering one or more of these test in your life? Do you feel that the world is adverse and that nothing goes right no matter how hard you try? Let your answer be: The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away;may the name of the Lord be praised  Job 1:21).

Sorrow. – Job does not curse God as Satan had assured he would for having lost everything, or as the reckless request of his wife. Job curses the day he was born, because he feels that life has no meaning. This was also the experience of many consecrated men who at a point in their life faltered: David (2 Sam 24:17), Elijah (1 Kings 19:4) and Jonah (Job 4:3).
Relieve. – In his sufferings , Job cursed the day of his birth. He describes his  situation as the opposite of the relieve he could find in death “I have no peace, no quietness; I have no rest, but only turmoil.” (verse 26).
Prayer

Lord, we intercede in prayer for those brothers and sisters who are going through afflictions and sorrows. We know You feel our sorrows, we ask that your presence may be felt to give us comfort and peace. In the name of Jesus, amen.
