Psalms, chapter 78

God can do anything that you ask.our lack of faith can deny us the blessings of heaven.

Our Bible reading for today is from Psalms 78, the verse of reference in  is:

 “True, he struck the rock, and water gushed out, streams flowed abundantly, but can he also give us bread? Can he supply meat for his people?”” (Psalms 78:20 NIV).

Trust in God’s unlimited power

Historical commentary. – The Psalm 78 is the largest of the historical psalms. The psalm starts by contrasting the people’s disobedience to the great wonders that God performed from the time of Egypt until the reign of David. The purpose of the Psalm is to review the saving acts of God and seem them as lessons for the present and the future.

Water from the rock.- On three occasions, in a miraculous way, God provided plenty of water to the people of Israel:
1 ) Turned Mara unsafe water into good water for consumption (Exodus 15:22-25)
2) Drew water from the rock of Mount Horeb (Exodus 17:3-6);
3) At Cades God again give them water from a rock (Num 20:1-6).
Using the figure of the thirst of man, Christ remarked that his coming was as a spiritual thirst quencher to man: “If anyone is thirsty come to me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water “. “And this, says John, ‘said the Spirit which they should receive who believed in him.” John 7:37-39. To the Samaritan woman, he said: “But whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst, but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:14. Remember that God is willing to supply all our needs.

Could He also feed us? – Many times we limit the power of God, and for that reason we received no response to our requests, because we do not pray with faith. “I fear that our ideas are quite poor and common. Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens can not contain thee ‘. 2 Chronicles 6:18. Nobody ventures to limit the power of the Holy One of Israel. There conjectures and questions regarding the work of God. ‘Put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground’. Exodus 3:5. Yes, angels are ministers of God on earth, who do his will. ” 3MS 356.

God our Father and eternal provider. We praise your name and thank you for drawing water that can satisfy the desires our body and spirit. We ask that you increase our faith, to believe that your power is unlimited and all things are possible. In the name of Jesus, amen.
